:explode: Somebody sounds upset. Before we reply, we do have to apologize because we did say on Friday/Saturday that we would open some trails possibly all.
Now...the frustrating thing is we can't be everywhere at once and we can't control Mother Nature. It has been extremely windy the last few days. We had another major tree fall on the H Loop Saturday night across one of our bridge crossings in the back. We placed an updated message on the "Call before you Haul #" early Sun AM, but unfortunately was not able to place it on the forum or sites because we were on the track getting ready to open. Because we are a business...SAFETY is a major necessity, and in order to make the trails conducive to everyone we have to keep safety in mind for all riders.
Getting to know the riding community in the metroplex over the last year has made us realize that many of the rider forums are seen somewhat like the bible. In addition, there are key people on certain forums that hold a high reputation so when they comment many people's ears perk up. I have known Tom a.k.a. Penquin ever since we have opened and he seems to be a good guy held among high reputation within the TCCRA forums. We all are busy people and we all have various stresses in our lives. It would surely be appreciative to have all the facts before trying to trash a reputation of a facility that has worked hard to become a close local hang out for the riding community.
We are trying to build a fun and safe trail system that all riders will enjoy that is close to the metroplex. We do apologize if we are not moving fast enough. Officially under my ownership we have been in business just under a year. We have attained major strides with the track, and the trails are getting there. For the most part I understand us to be some of the easiest folks to work with that take everyone's input into consideration. Unfortunately, when Curtis had to postpone the race much of the development that he was going to help us do was put on hold. Now that we have dried out over the last few weeks we are continuing to clean up the trails ourselves.
Going back to having key people within local forums make statements brings about other folks jumping on the band wagon. Again, since one person who is held in high regard says something it has to be true right? Therefore other people jump on and want to throw their opinions. Which brings us to Mr. Kipster. I am all for making opinions but make sure to have your facts straight is all we are asking.
Mr. Kipster states that we shut the track and trails down because the road to get to the track was bad. Give me a break. If anyone knows me and the people at this track knows that we try at all costs to get this place opened. I have personally pulled people into the staging area because they got stuck in the entry so they could ride. The problem, I would guess, that day if we shut the facility down due to the roads was because those who understand the whole picture know that the track is on parts of flood plain. The track & trails can get a huge amount of water when other areas will only have what the Kipster would say, "dews real heavy".
With all the comments we have had over the last 6-8 months about the trails being too tight, not long enough, too many ruts, not enough fast areas, needing more obstacles we are trying to make sure that we have improvements as quickly as we can. Don't get me wrong I am not complaining, we welcome all comments because we want to know what the community of riders wants to ride on...all I am asking is if you are going to bash a facility get your facts straight. We will do a better job to make sure on the forums that we post, "Call before you Haul" in all instances.
I could be wrong here but I understand the Call before you Haul to be a common thing in the riding community. Tom...did you call?
FYI, any and all businesses are tightening up due to the increases of fuel. We have made some changes due to this by shutting down Tuesdays but overall the facility is doing well. Thank you for all the support in the area. We love doing this stuff.
Tom, thank you for all your past support and I can appreciate that you are trying to protect your own but please get the facts straight. You can call me direct any time 817 994 7056. In fact, anyone can feel free.
FYI, we are planning some time trials XC races in the near future while we are widening the trails to make it more conducive for the reschedule of the TORN race. We have gotten a lot of good comments from our regulars and other local dealers. More details soon. _________________ TMX Staff |

Posting on the forms is a 2 edged sword, you posted they were open, if that was not the case it would have been a simple matter to post otherwise. _________________ the older I get the fasterI was |

I called at 6am, is that too early? I had my facts straight, the park trails system was supposed to be open according to the information I had, and it was in fact closed. What part did I get wrong? I have races the next 2 weekends so it will be July 4th weekend before I can give y'all another shot, if you're gonna be open. BTW yes I was upset, I didnt get to ride this weekend and at my age there arent that many weekends left in my life _________________ the older I get the fasterI was |

Again, Penquin I think you are upset and blowing things out of proportion. It is your opinion and duly noted. I have to say we do pretty much live at the park and yes 6AM was too early because we had not spotted the tree and the additional damage until about 8:00AM.
I would rather you be upset not being able to go out than have had you deal with multiple trees down and other areas not cleaned up to just have a similar type of comment stated that we allow folks on the trails that are even tighter and/or not clearing out trees, thorns, branches, etc.
Granted you and others may have been able to just ride right through some of those trees but again the safety of the all riders has to be our concern.
Good luck at Maypearl this weekend and come back to see us on the 21st to prepare for wherever the makeup race will be on the 28th. You just caught us on a bad weekend and the timing was bad on the communication. Once again, we do apologize for not being able to update the website but did have the voicemail updated that early morning, NOT 6AM unfortunately, but we did have it updated.
Have a good week. If anything touch base with me prior to coming out and we will take care of you and whomever was in the passenger seat with you when you came out. I understand the politics of the riding community but don't blow things out of proportion. The track is doing quite well. The dirt is really nice and has come along way. The trails when cleaned up are still tight in some areas for some folks but we are working on them as quickly as we can to open up some areas. We will still have some tight areas to keep it technical. The Z loop will be rockin soon as well. Even you are even remotely close during the week you may want to come out and see us on the 19th. We have good things coming down the pipe. _________________ TMX Staff |

I will still go out again when scheduling permits. You know I wont give up on TMX this easily. The intense bike prep the night before and the whole gas , time and anticipation thing had me a little tense on sunday and the trails being closed was the last straw. A lot of my issues are still valid and I know you are trying to address them. Maybe you could close the trails on 1 Saturday a month and have a scheduled work day? I could live with that. Since my health has improved I can finally help out some. You are close and the trails are pretty nice considering some of the challenges of the terrain you have to work with. I dont ride MX much so the track is for someone else to comment on. _________________ the older I get the fasterI was |
